Hey guys! It's New Year's Eve, so I'm filling out a survey that I got from my mom.

1. Where did you ring in 2006? At home, watching Miss Congeniality 2 with my mum.

2. What was your status on Valentine's Day? Single :P

3. Were you in school anytime this year? Try almost every day.

4. How did you earn your keep? I did chores around the house, but that's about it.

5. Did you ever have to go to the hospital? Nah, just normal doctor stuff.

6. Did you ever encounter the police? Nope, I'm a good girl.

7. Where did you go on vacation? Idaho Falls, and just around Utah. But we've got some good California stuff planned for 2007, including a band tour that I can't wait for!

8. What did you purchase that was over $500? I don't think I did...

9. Did you know anybody who got married?I don't think so.

10. Did you know anybody who passed away? Yes, sadly; both a family friend and my baby cousin.

11. Did you run into anybody you graduated high school with? Well, possibly, since the people I see everyday are the ones I'm going to graduate with.

12. Did you move anywhere? Nope, and that's a good thing.

13. What sporting events did you go to? Not too many...school football games, I guess, but that was mostly just because pep band played there.

14. What concerts did you go to? I performed in several (including Middle School, High School, and a Utah Youth Symphony one), and I also got to go to the opera.

15. Are you registered to vote? Nope, but I will be in two years.

16. If so, did you do your patriotic duty on November 7? See above answer.

17. Where do you live now? Utah

18. Describe your birthday. It didn't feel like my birthday, especially because I never had a party and the fact that not too many people remembered. Thanks so much to those who did!

19. What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2006? I started high school! But I actually knew that was going to happen... I went on a date! That definitely wasn't expected.

20. What is one thing you regretted this year? I don't know specifically, but I regret a lot of things.

21. What's something you learned about yourself? That I might actually have a chance of surviving high school.

22. Any new additions to your family? Nope.

23. What was your best month? December!

24. What from pop culture will you remember 2006 by? I don't know, because I don't pay too much attention to the whole pop culture thing, although I'm sure there's something that I know, I just don't know it yet...

Well, that's all for this year! See ya in 2007!

Another Christmas Meme!

Since I have decided to do memes to keep my blog updated, I'm starting now! Because it's Christmas time, I'm going to do a Christmas meme about songs that I found on Blog Drive Insanity. So here it is:
What are your favorite Christmas songs?
There are too many of those, but I listed a few two memes ago, if you wanted to go see.

What Christmas song do you dislike?
Well, I'm not sure I really dislike any of them, but Jingle Bell Rock starts getting annoying by the 10th time you've heard it in an hour.

Do you prefer Christmas carols, classics, or new interpretations?
I like a combination of all three of them. :D

Was this a good musical year for you? What were your favorite purchases/downloads/new discoveries?
It was definately a good musical year for me. This year I found three new musicals that I now love: High School Musical, West Side Story, and Wicked. It was great.

From Now On...

I've decided to make it a goal to keep my blog somewhat updated. Hopefully that isn't to ambitious for me, especially with all the homework that I have to do. To make it easier, I've decided to use memes to give me something to write about. Thanks to "The Daily Meme", I'll have plenty to choose from. So, keep checking back, hopefully I have some good ones!

Yup. Another one.

I found another meme on my mum's blog. What you do is put your mp3 player on shuffle, read the question, go to the next song, and put it down, no matter what it is. Sometimes the answers don't make sense, but oh, well. Anyway, here it is!

How am I feeling today? The First Noel-Vanessa Williams I guess I'm in a christmas mood...who knows?

What do my friends really think of me? Joy to the World/For Unto Us A Child Is Born-Amy Grant I really don't know what to think about this one... maybe I'm a joy to them!

How can I be happy? Carol of the Bells-Voice Male Who knows about his one, either? Maybe I'll be happy if I'm caroling? (Sorry about all the Christmas songs!)

What is some good advice for me? Green into Gold-David Lanz Turning green into gold is good advice? How about this one (it's kinda interpretive): I did this song as acompaniment for a book report one time, so maybe it means I should be reading a book!

What is the story of my life? Don't Look Down-Cheri Magill Well, I am scared of heights. Maybe that's it.

How will I be remembered? I Know He Lives-EFY 2005 Maybe remembered as a good, faithful person?

What do I think my current theme song is? Gracious Good Shepherd-Vanessa Williams Actually, I think it's "Top of the World" by Mandy Moore right now, but since that one's not even on my mp3 player, there's not even a chance of getting it. Oh, well.

What does everyone else think my current theme song is? Remember Gethsemene-Lauri Carrigan "When you're down, and that frown on your face just won't fade...there's someone who knows your pain, because He suffered in your name." I guess it works. :)

What should I do with my life? Don't Hide Your Face-Jericho Road Don't know what to make of this.

What is my best feature? O Come Emmanuel-Voice Male Who knows?

What describes my secrets? Baby, What You Going To Do?-Donny Osmond Okay...whatever this is supposed to mean...

How do I treat others? Ready-Cheri Magill I don't know what this one's about either.

What's in store for this weekend? Tractin' In A Winter Wonderland-Voice Male This is one of the funniest songs I've ever heard, so maybe the weekend will be full of laughs.

Christmas Time is Here!

It's almost Christmas! My favorite holiday is just about here! And to celebrate, I'd like to fill out this meme (what does that mean?) that I stole from my mom, who stole it from someone else... but anyways, here it goes:

1. Eggnog or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate makes the world go round, as a friend of mine said.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just put them under the tree? You know what? I really don't know about this one... however, I think that the elves wrap, too time consuming for Santa to do it all.

3. Colored lights on the tree, or white? White, definately. It reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nah, but it might be fun...

5. When do you put your decorations up? Whenever mom gets around to it - definitely not more than a few weeks before Christmas. *sneaky smile*

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? You're kidding, right? I have to pick a favorite? That's just crazy. I like all of them. :)

7. What's a favorite holiday memory from your childhood? I dunno... they're all pretty good.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Well, I guess... pre-school maybe. That's when I learned that he really exists (and that has to be the truth, my teachers have said so)!

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No, because we're usually not done wrapping them yet. :P

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? See mom's blog, she describes it well.

11. Snow! Love it or dread it? I hate having to drive in it... but I love sledding in it or watching it fall as long as I'm inside and wraped up in a nice warm blanket with some hot chocolate and a good book to read!

12. Can you ice skate? I've tried twice, apparently I have no sense of balance (found that out when I was learning to ride a bike in 7th grade, but that's a story for another day). However, I'd better learn fast, I need to know by the 27th (another story that will be told later)!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Um... nope, not really. I have to say "Thanks, mum and dad, for the mp3 player (I don't go almost anywhere without it!) and for the sketch book (I've used basically the whole thing up!)"

14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? Thinking about the true meaning of Christmas... and being together with family. And maybe getting sleep.

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? I dunno.... it's dessert, do you expect me to pick? However, what I really feel like now is one of those chocolate oranges.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Stockings first, then brunch, THEN presents. It heightens the suspense.

17. What tops your tree? Nothing, currently. But it still looks nice.

18. Which do you prefer - giving or receiving? I love giving things and seeing the looks on their faces when they get it. That's always the best part. However, getting stuff is fun, too.

19. What is your favorite Christmas song? This is music we're talking about, people. I can't have a favorite of these either. I really like "Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song)", "What Child is This?", "Angels We Have Heard on High", "Carol of the Bells", "Patapan", "Baby, It's Cold Outside" and "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen". And, of course, my new favorite, "Tractin' in a Winter Wonderland". I probably have a lot more, but I'm going to stop listing now.

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or yum? Heck, it's sugar! I'll eat all the sugar I can get my hands on (although you probably don't want to see me after that).

Anyways, I hope that was fun! It was definitely fun for me!

Just Sittin' (for once!)

Hey all you guys (all you guys? psh, I doubt that many people ever read this) that are reading this! If you are, you must be a dedicated reader, considering I haven't blogged in so long.... Anyway, it's 6th Period Computer Tech, and I've finished all my Microsoft Word assignments... Apparently I'm a faster typer than most people. So now I'm blogging. :D This is the one time in a long time that I've been able to just sit.... I've been so busy lately I don't know what to do! But it's fun.... We're doing a musical!!!! Everyone come see West Side Story @ Hillcrest High School. Spread the word! I do believe tickets are on sale now, but I need to find out more about that. Someone in Seminary this morning mentioned it. So... mebe come see. I'll be in the pit orchestra playing my heart out. Great musical, really is. It's funny, I'll be doing things and I'll think of some really great things to blog about, but I don't have time! Now that I finally have time to blog, I can't think of any of the things I wanted to blog about. XP Oh, well. Mebe I'll write them down. Anyways, I'm signing out now. So, see ya all later!

School Started!

School just started! I'm a sophomore now! Woohoo! I'm starting the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, which is a very advanced program which, if I graduate, I will be able to go to any college in the world, or, at least, have a better chance of getting in. For this, I have to take a bunch of advanced classes. I'm taking AP European History, Driver's Ed, Pre-IB English, Spanish 4, Honors Physics, Computer Tech, Concert Band, and Pre-Calculus. I'm very excited about it!

Hi, I'm not dead...yet

Some of you may be thinking, since the last post I made was about how much cross-country hurt, that I may have died from it, but no, I'm still alive. :o)

Friday, June 30, 2006

Owww.

So, I just got back from another cross country training. This time we did hills. Run up and down the hills. Really steep hills. This is all I can say: *pant* owwww.

Cross Country

Well, mom seems to believe that writing things in blogs is good for you. I guess it probably is. It's almost like a journal. But, anyway, mom thinks I should write about stuff that goes on in my life in my blog. So... Currently, I am training to be on my high school's cross country team. However, while I enjoy running, I am also not very good. So hopefully I'll get better. *crosses fingers* I guess I have all summer to work on it, right? Well, anyway, practices are every weekday morning at 6:30. My dad takes me on his way to work. It's way too early for me, who is a night person. But it's much better than running at noon or something. Every day, we do active stretches at the beginning, and 'normal stretches' at the end. Active stretches include things like toe touches, lunges, high knees, high skips, and things like that. Reminds me of tennis practice. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, we do hard runs. This means several miles of running. And for a long time. The long runs are very tiring. But that's not the really entertaining part. The best part is the easy runs, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Because they're easier and shorter, we also work on strengthening other body parts. So here is a list of our funny exercises: Kick backs: This is just what it sounds like. You get down on hands and knees. With your right knee locked at a 90 degree angle, you kick it back. This strengthens your thighs and rear. Fire hydrant: The more entertaining of the exercises. Same position as kick backs, but you lift your leg like a dog would after it found a fire hydrant. This one also strengthens your rear. Broadway: The more painful of the exercises. No idea why it's called the broadway. Lay on back, legs straight up, lower slowly. When they almost touch the ground, bend your knees and bring them in. Then extend up and repeat. This one is for your abs. It is alternated with Giant Cockroaches: Sit up, and then bring your legs off the floor, curling slightly. You'll look like a giant cockroach. Then you do kind-of crunches all balancing on your rear. Everyone will laugh, so don't do this in public unless you are doing it with a cross-country team. Supermans (I don't see why it couldn't be supermen, I mean, come on!): Lay on stomach, with arms and legs stretched forward and back (well, arms forward, legs back. It'd be kinda awkward if it was legs forward, arms back :D) Then there are two types: alternating superman and normal superman. Normal superman is when you lift up your arms and legs and hold for a long time. Alternating superman is where you lift up your right arm and left leg and hold for a second, and then lift up your left arm and right leg and hold for a second. With many repetitions. Well, I think that's all. Seeing as it's 10:30, I should probably go to bed so I can wake up in the morning for practice. 'Night!

AARRRGGGGG

Hi, it's me again. Yes, in the same day. So.... here's a sad story. ugg me: brother, you need to pick those up (when he spills cereal on floor) brother: I KNOW! You don't know everything me: you missed one, right there *points* brother: *screaming* I KNOW! You're not the boss of me! me: *sits* brother: I can't do everything! Can you do this? *makes really loud shrieking noise that I guess was words* Can you?! me: I didn't really understand that. brother: *runs upstairs to go tell mom* 5 minutes later (or less) brother: and, guess what, on this show there was... mom: you don't need that much cereal brother: okay brother: Aoi's so mean. She's really bossy. mom: I know, she's a teenager. We'll survive. *sigh* Okay, maybe now you can see why I'm upset. And also this is a nearly daily occurance. I hate it! Arg. The end until I need to rant about something else. :S

*Sigh*

Well, since no one reads this, I think I might actually start writing in it. However, since I don't have any cool or funny stories like Daltongirl, and I don't have many places to go, like Alisonwonderland, I guess this will just be kind of like a boring-ish journal. Anyway, I'm feeling kinda down right now. It doesn't really seem like I can do much that is right. No matter how much I try to help, it always ends up backfiring on me. :S Not too fun.

Some Favorites

So... I'm copying my mom on this and putting some favorites down that all you very bored people can look at and remember for when it's my birthday and you're at a total loss as to what to get me.

Favorite...

drink: water!
movie: I don't watch movies that much...
book: It's cruel and unnusual punishment to make me decide. But some of my favorite series are in my profile
song: This one's hard too. Most classical, and most anything that's good and clean and fun.
sibling: no, just kidding! XD

I'll never look at a frog the same way again...

Anyway, we had to disect frogs for Biology (ick!), and I got a fairly squeemish partner, so I've had to do the cutting...

It was pretty bad. For one thing we got a frog that had its arm across it's chest, and it had to be laying out flat, so we had to break its arm bones to get it to work. It's a good thing it's not alive. Oww... And then, also, the organs were all twisted up with each other, and we had to untangle them before we could cut them out. It was pretty bad. And we're still not done. How sad. Hey, at least no one's thrown up. Yet.

Hm....

Yes, I have not bloged for years and years... That's okay though. I get to go to a party today!
